I am pretty excited to be digging into Drupal for my latest project although I am finding it to have a bit of a steep learning curve (so much vocabulary to learn and understand!).
I am planning on building a site that is regional in nature and I want to offer two sides to the site - a community portion and an information portion. Basically I am looking to add the following features to the site:
I am a fictional author and I have decided to document the world I created and share it with others. My guess is the best way to deal with this is a Wiki system with myself as the sole author for now (until my passing day I'd wager) that supports taxonomy to contain the following key structure (With Templates for each catagory):
People
Places
Objects
Organizations
Races
Events
Plot Lines
Thanks to everyone who has helped get my Drupal install working. I have been playing around a bit with it and enjoy themes, etc.
I have been looking around for ways to launch my actual test site right now.
I am planning to make a News/Media portal website with some social networking touch as well.
For this project I cannot yet finalised that which CMS should I choose between Joomla and Drupal? I have used Joomla as a Test for building that kind of site and not yet Drupal and totally unaware of How Drupal works. I havent seen yet a robust site powered by joomla as a News/Media portal but seen many using drupal.
Please suggest me your expert analysis to put the foundations of this website with strong pillars.
Can Drupal handle somethign like this? http://www.j-guitar.com/sp/sea/elg_new_list_sam_0.html
My guess is it can but I cannot seem to implement it correctly. Any suggestions as to how I should get started? I was going to use the Beale Street theme but I'm confused, LOL
