Before you start

I am thinking about using drupal for a community I run but I was wondering if there was a module where I could (as an admin) promote a forum post to a blog on the homepage. As a way to bring interesting stuff inside the community to the main area of the site. Does this make sense?

I want to display a video file in Drupal (from an event). What would be the best way for this? It is currently a 145MB MPG file (runtime 4.50 minutes). In which format should I convert this and how can I stream this online with Drupal?

I want a static front page on which I can use modules to display popular posts, new posts, featured posts etc.....
I want to set up multiple categories.
I want to display each category on its own page, all accessible by a global menu.
I want to post blog style content with comments and a rating system and assign it to a specific or multiple categories

Hi all,
I have some experience with 2 sites using Drupal 5.x.
Now I'm starting a bigger project, in which I would like to have Drupal 6.x + SMF 1.1.5 + Gallery2. All of this in at least 2 languages - English and Bulgarian.
I need user DBs bridged, but I don't mind different Admin passwords and Admin pannels. I also don't need integration of the menues of the above three.
The quiestion is: are there such bridge modules already for Drupal 6.x, are they stable enough for the mentioned configuration.

I'm facing with one question before switching to Drupal: does drupal have modules that allow visitors of the site make an upload via online-ftp (instead of the php uploaders). Thank you in advance
