Before you start

I've been using Drupal 5 for a few projects over the past few months.

I have a new project that will involve new programmers familiar
with PHP (LAMP).

Is Drupal 6 ready for prime time yet. I wonder around this
site and find modules like ACL and others are not ready.

I'm brand new to Drupal, so I understand I've a learning curve ahead -- especially since I want a site with so much functionality.

I'm sure I'll be back with other questions but after a lot of looking around here and reading, I'm not sure Drupal (with its modules) can already handle the business side of what my site needs.

So here's what I want to do, please let me know which/what already has solutions and what I might need to have custom code developed for.

Hopefully, I'll be able to release anything developed to the entire community. Here goes:

First -- credits. I want the only actual point of purchase to be credits (initally, just with paypal) and these credits used to buy everything else.

Second -- subscriptions. I want to have basic users, standard users and premimum users. Special needed options with subscriptions are that some should come with spending credits, the ability to upload certain types of content, the ability to add a limited/unlimited amount of content, and the ability to pay for others to view/access/download certain content (NOTE ALL SUCH CONTENT IS DIGITAL OR INTANGIBLE FOR NOW).

Side note here -- I'd really like to allow all users the ability to choose their own theme/look

I'm trying to understand drupal nodes, and I think I have an idea. But I don't understand how nodes interact with each other.

1. If I have an image node (a picture of a dog), and a story node (a story about a dog), is there a way to put the image node inside the story node?

2. Or I am going about this all wrong? If all I want to do it have a story about a dog with an image of a dog in it, then should that just be a single story node, that happens to have an image file (non-node) within it?

Though I made simple personal website using drupal, I don't have knowledge of php and drupal.

I was getting a headache while reading stuffs on internet so thought that its it's better to buy a book......... but after some searches I couldn't find out that which will be the best book to start with. I also want to get some idea of panels and views (I never understood it). So can you please suggest me a book and a store.

I work for a non profit and we have a website but the content doesn't change as frequently as we would like because it's very hard for anyone but me to change the content,( I use dreamweaver to change the pages). Can I set up a site with drupal and make it so that different users can log in and then make changes to the site like adding new text or switching out pictures? If so, how would I start to go about doing that?
