I'm one of the web developers of our company's Social Club, and we are currently looking for a potent PHP/MySQL solution to re-factor our current Social Club intranet Website. We are wondering if Drupal would be viable, and we would need your help to define that.
The current website allows members to register for Social Club events and activities of different kind, ranging from simple Movie Theater events (just buy a ticket) to complex Christmas Party events (table reservation with table captains and guests, hotel room reservation, multiple location choices, etc...). The registration process is currently done using a wizard-like interface with multiple steps and sometimes complex entry forms (using AJAX and JavaScript intensively). It also allows for the event organizers to validate payments, export lists of registrants and send confirmation emails. Members authenticate using the enterprise's LDAP directory, which we also use to pull extra info and extended member attributes (such as application permissions and personal details).
I`ve been running a website for about 4 years, starting with no knowledge of html up to the point where I`m still scratching my head at the complexity of it all.
Anyway, the site uses html frames which seemed a good idea at the time but now its looking dated and needs to be brought into the 21st century so i`m looking for perhaps a CMS to re-do the site. Its here if you want to have a look http://www.cambags.com
I thought I'd start a place to itemize what to avoid in Drupal 6 that might cause extra headache when it comes time to upgrade our applications to Drupal 7.
Hello, I have never used Drupal but we are planning on integrating it to a static web site we have ready right now. We have a banner which will be has some complex animations in Jquery and Flash. I assume since these are front end technologies using Drupal wouldn't have any effect. But since it is very important that Jquery and Flash funtionality is maintained, I just wanted to confirm that adapting this site to Drupal wouldn't have any effect on the Jquery and Flash components. Thanks for any input.
I want to migrate my sport club's website www.olc-wienerwald.at to a CMS. And drupal seems very interesting. But I need some decision help.
Can you give me some Pro/Cons drupal has compared to Joomla or TikiWiki (those I also are thinking about): To your information, I have more than basic skills in PHP and MySQL.
- It should be possible to have a good user management, members can add news posts and upload photos, change their database information (address, tel number, e-mail, etc).
Having used Drupal for a number of my own websites, I came to the conclusion that much of the work is duplicated, so have been looking at multisite however I believe what I want to do is not covered, and would like confirmation
Basically 1 main site with all data, and several satelite sites with variations on that data each with its own domain name,
i.e.
domain1.com
domain2.com
domain3.com
sub.domain.com
features needed
SIngle Database Instalation
Single codebase for all domains, (or as near as possible)
