Creating a site similar to Photobox

Hi

I've been evaluating Drupal for a while now and planning on launching a business that essentially allows groups of users to upload photos into private groups and also order prints of those photos.

There would be two basic user types, group owners and contributors. The group owner would have to pay for the space to upload photos. I think the Organic groups module coupled with the paypal module should cover that off?

Simple community site where images are uploaded and rated

Hello,

I'm looking to create a simple community site where images are uploaded then rated on by other users. I also want different sections for most viewed, highest rated, most commented, etc. Would drupal work out for what I need?

Thanks,
Mike

Help with deciding whether Drupal fulfills our needs

Hello Drupal community!

I'm part of a small/medium non-profit organisation that's planning to set up a new website (both for the public, and various stuff for logged-in members), and since we'd like to have complex user privileges, non-standard site hirachies, dynamically linked content, flexibility for integrating custom functionality in the future, and so on, the most common CMS's like Joomla will most likely not suffice for our needs.

After the research I've done so far, I'm personally very excited about Drupal and what it offers!
(The only "drawback" that people always seem to mention is apparently a shortage of good ready-made themes, but that won't matter to us since we'll prefer to create a theme of our own anyhow...)
In fact, with all the cool things I've read about Drupal, I might start learning it for myself now, independently of what will be decided for our website... ;-)

Anyhow... In order to provide an informed basis for making the right desicion, I'd be interested to know if the few non-trivial things listed below are possible with Drupal within reasonable effort.

[Private Messages] Restrict users

I am looking for a CMS that is capable of doing the following:

A private message system that can restrict users in who they send a message to, so that you can choose who they may send messages to in advance.

It is for a website where users can follow a course online. They should be able to PM with their coach but not with any other people who follow the course.

Anyway possible to use Drupal for this? Anyone with any experience with this?
