Column splits within content

I'm investigating CMS for a small academic website, and while I'm pretty certain Drupal would meet most of the requirements (most of the site is not complicated, and essentially any CMS would do) there is one unusual detail which I'm not sure of.

Give 20 users the right to edit one article each?

Hi, I'm new to Drupal but have some experience with Joomla. For a new website I'm creating I think I have to go from joomla to something else. Hence, my question:

Is there any way in Drupal to give 20 users the right to edit one article each?

I'm making a site for a soccer team and want every player to be able to edit his own info page. And not be able to edit other players info page.

Should I start with Drupal 7 alpha as a total beginner?

Hi,

I'm keen to learn Drupal, as my partner for a website we both own has been the sole "coder" for our existing site running on Drupal 6. I have extremely basic knowledge of PHP and HTML.

So I was thinking that the best way to actually learn Drupal is to use it, so I plan to create a pet project site of my own. Question is, seeing that Drupal 7 would be released "soon" as it's already in its alpha, should I start with Drupal 7, or Drupal 6? I'd appreciate your input and opinions.

Thanks!

Newbie: Content (page or story) stored in DB or file

anyone can tell the content in Drupal is stored on Database or file?

for example, if i created a page by ms-word or a html file, how this content is stored in Drupal, in mySQL (become structural data) or just a file?

actually, i want to use existing (3rd party) search engine rather than drupal internal search.

Thanks,

Drop Down Menu List

Hello, Drupal Community,
I was simply wondering if it is possible to make a menu with a drop down section. What I mean is, say I have a menu block titled "Community", when you scroll over that would it be possible for a sub-menu to drop down that might have the two titles Blog and Forum or something along those lines? I'm pretty sure it's possible, but is it possible out of the box with Drupal? If this wasn't worded clearly enough I'll be glad to clarify for you.
All help is greatly appreciated,
-MBC

I need to setup a ecommerce website that only sell downloadable products, how can I do it?

I am working on a new project which is a e-commerce application, and only sell downloadable product. It is a pay-file-sharing website, any user can preview the documents, while a upload a .doc/.xls/.ppt etc documents, the website users can preview all this document via webpages, but can not download the origin file, only if they pay for them. I know how to preview this documents ,but I do not know which modules can I use suitable for the downloadable products payment. Ubercart or eCommerce are good, but all of them are not a pro downloadable file sharing e-commerce platform.
