I am looking into different themes, and I still wonder if I wouldn't be better off creating one from scratch.

Can someone tell me how long it can take to build a theme from scratch? Compared with modifying a theme.

I've install a jquery tools plugin(not jquery) .
But I don't know how to use it in my template .
How can I import jquery tools 's js like

I have an idea - create a web site for my native town. It is not very big, but people use the internet, they enjoy to serf.
So, am i right to choose Drupal for making site? May be i should not? Because i'd like to make very simple site with news, blog, photo gallery.

Will Drupal do what I'm looking to do?

I have an office with about 300 people in it.

I would like to have
1. a computer displaying a photo slideshow of employees with a short bio of them. (possibly a QuickTime stream)
2. a website where employees can browse the photos and bios, searchable by name.

I would like it to be very easy to add/remove employees (i.e., a content type of "Employee" with Photo, Name, and Bio fields).

I thought maybe Drupal and some combination of modules could work together to do something like this. Can they?
