Before you start

Hello,

I am planning to use Drupal and Ubercart for our website where students can select a course and pay online. So, I think that this can be achieved by having the Webform module, and Ubercart. Then each course becomes a product. I have read all the documentation on Ubercart website to get a better understanding of how this module works.

Basically, I do not need a catalog, and I don't think that we want a shopping cart page. I just want that students select the course, and then they can pay right away online, may be by using PayPal Website Payments Pro.

I don't understand what CVS is for. Can someone explain it to me please? Is it something that helps you configuring and/or developing modules on your Drupal website?

We have build an intranet using Drupal and are considering building our internet site also with Drupal. This raises the question of whether it makes sense to build A) two different sites because the target users are different or B) try and do it all with a single site. Either way there is intranet and internet content that is related eg summary info only on internet with details on intranet.

Do we need to keep the same theme for the intranet section of a website? Or can we have a different theme?

And is access to intranet controlled the same way? By allowing users a role?

I am a Drupal newbie. I'm a professional developer, with good PHP experience and extensive ColdFusion background. I have built my own CMS in both PHP/MySQL and CF/MySQL, deployed probably 100+ sites on these custom web apps, and am just sick of being the only one who knows how to build/maintain them. I've spent more than a year researching, testing, exploring alternatives, including Mura, ExpressionEngine, Concrete5, EZPublish, WordPress (!), et al... and in the past 3 months have come convincingly to the conclusion that Drupal is where we want to go. Bought the O'Reilly book, met with several Drupal developers and picked their brains, and am very excited about diving in.

First project: This site will be a community site for dog owners, as a way of tracking information about specific pedigree lines (sire/dam/litter/etc). It will initially include at least 100,000 records about specific animals, and could eventually expand significantly beyond that.

I need some help on newly creating blog website.we are going to build a new website called blogs.
In that we mainly used create a blogs,posting blog etc.But we are building it from scratch so what are the modules we need
apart from blog module.We know we have to use blog module but what are the other modules we need for this.
