Is this possible with drupal?

Hello,

Who we are:

We are a Group of people working as volunteers in an animal shelter. We are frustrated that there are so few possibility's for animal shelters to help the dogs and cats that are "special". With special we mean "harder to find a new home for then average animals"( due to age, past abuse, stress from other animals in shelter, ... ).

What we want:

We want to create a website to help these "Specials". This would be a central location in our country where all the animal shelters can put these unfortunate animals in the spotlight. The site would only be intended for animals who have difficulty to find a new home.

What we need (this is where we need your advice):

A cms (since we have no one with php knowledge) that would make the following things possible:
- A website where on the frontpage some text and pictures are shown.
- A possibility to create login's for separate shelters so they can post the animals they want on the webpage themselves (with or without approval system).
- An area where random pictures are shown

if possible also (not necessary but would be nice):
- The shelters could be selectable by region
- Search for a specific breed or size
- Some kind of contact system for to contact the shelters directly

An example (not exactly but its similar) is found here: http://www.pets.be (Also drupal I think).

What is best Drupal/PHP/MySQL/Apache install for my MacBook Pro 15

Dear all,

I have installed Drupal previously on my old PC. I installed Apache and got that running. Then I installed PHP and phpmyadmin. Then, the most difficult part, I installed MySQL. When all this was running I installed Drupal.

I went through a lot of issues to get all of this working.

Now I have a Macbook Pro 15, Intel i5.

What are the best installs for all of the above to create the platform to use Drupal?

Thanks for reading this post and answering as it will be a real help to me.

Kind regards,

Web Site Ideas I have

I am working on creating a web site that will actually take off. I have a few websites I have been working on for over a year and they just aren't taking off. So I am wanting to get some opinions on a few ideas of mine.

1. Post That You Are Searching For A Home - Instead of houses being posted on the site and you searching through tons and tons of homes how about you post what you are looking for and people come looking for you instead?

Are there any existing modules for this??

Hi,

I am an average programmer and not much familiar to drupal API.

Before I use Drupal for a website, I have some queries to clarify. I hope the existing members can help me to find answers for this.

My website needs to have some kind of box where users can type some posts (option to set the word limit for the messages) like twitter and post them. The messages would be visible on the top (look and feel of AJAX).

Suggested Modules for Members File Manager System

Hey all. Very new to Drupal but experienced PHP developer. I have a project that I'd like to use Drupal for as a great way to being learning it. I was looking for some direction as to how to tackle this and was hoping you fine people could help.

Essentially this is what the project needs to do:

1) an admin area for the client to
- manage users (manually creating user accounts)
- upload documents to a specific users area
- manage event listings to be displayed on website

Status Website

I am planning to create a site where people post stupid statuses they have read and also stupid twitter updates. I want it to be simple and look nice and clean kind of like facebook or twitter but a collection of user submitted status updates. Then from there users will rate the status and also comment on it.
