Before you start

Does anyone have comments about or experiences with Nodestream http://drupal.org/project/nodestream which would help me decide whether to use it as the basis for a major project?

I have found using profiles creates maintenance and updating problems, so I usually prefer to build sites on a standard install. However, Nodestream looks interesting, and appears to have some things built in which would not be quickly achieved by building from scratch.

We have a number of Drupal web sites mostly duplicates of the same site with content changes with-in. I'm trying to define if it's better to have a single site with all the content separated with-in a main site. I have a couple concerns about that as well, how easy is it to drop in or migrate the content from the other sites to one. I also want to define specific permissions to either at a site level or a page level to who is able to update/modify content on a defined page. I am new to Drupal so any and all advice is welcomed.

Hi, I'm wanting to create a submission page for people to upload poems for a poetry competition. There should be a paypal link that takes them once they have paid to an upload page to upload the files with their poems in. Can anyone suggest a way of doing this in drupal? The poems should be printed out with a poet reference number on them and this would have to be automated. They files uploaded will be word files but they need to be printed automatically with reference numbers on them.
