About Creating Distributions / Installation Profiles

My name is Sean, Hi.
I was just wondering if there is currently a way to create an installation profile from a live site.
So when you install another you have a full site with all the features but just need to change some pages/content...

Thanks, Sean.

Building an artist website

Dear Drupal members,

I'm hosting a small artist community looking to expand. Our website currently runs on a custom written script on top of the cakephp framework, but it's slow as hell and lacks overall functionality. We would like our site to have the following features:

  • Login/logout
  • Admin panel
  • Editor panel for people writing articles
  • User profiles
  • News items
  • Reviews of drawing/paiting materials
  • Tutorials
  • Resources (this is a gallery full of mini-images featering several body poses, haircuts, etc.)
  • Q&A system like yahoo answers
  • Gallery
  • A feedback system where users can upload a piece of work and others can upload an improved version of that art piece. The person who requested the feedback can select the most helpfull upload from other members and will gain some points for this.

Developing a small charity site with user submitted events and content?

A friend has asked me to make a small charity site, which I initially thought was going to be close to a simple wordpress blog. But I've now realised that the user interaction elements they'd like aren't easy to achieve on wordpress, so I'm considering drupal. It's on a relatively short schedule, so I'd like to get an idea of whether it's doable on drupal, if it's the best platform, and what would be the best way to get started.

Client portal help

Hello all,

I'm looking for some advice before I get started on a site. I'm very new to Drupal so any help would be much appreciated and the more detailed you can be in your response the better.

The site is for a company that sells to local coffee shops. They have about ten products that they deliver twice a week.

The site I want to build will have a front end (viewable by the general public) and a client login / portal. Each client will have a unique login and their own page. On this page they should be able to see / edit their profile but, most importantly, they should be able to see their past orders and they should have the ability to edit their upcoming orders. If the client doesn't change his / her order by a set time, the order should automatically go through based on the previous order. All of this data should be collected and emailed to the site admin, also by a set time (in this case twice a week).

The client won't be executing payment on the site but they'll need to see the cost of each order they make. So, each product will have a price associated with it. The admin will be able to mark an order / invoice as paid and, if the invoice hasn't been paid, after a selected amount of time the client will automatically be sent a friendly reminder.
