How to use drupal as a CMS when you have your HTML/CSS designs finished.

Hello guys, this is the first time I've needed to use a CMS and I"m leaning towards Drupal over wordpress because it seems more powerful and scalable overall. I just have a few noob questions. The easiest one right out the bat would be, can you edit the HTML files easily in DRUPAL? One thing I'm used to doing is testing out web pages locally, and just FTPing them over to my webhost. How easy is it to edit the HTML or CSS of the modules in the site? Like say, I wanted to change the background graphic of the header.

Meeting Availability Site

Hi,

i am really wanting to create a site that does the following:

Home Page -> User Login

links straight to a meeting availability tab that has all the meetings set up by 3 managers where users can select Radio buttons for yes or no as to whether or not they can attend.

It will be a private site where only registered users can view the site.

I then wish to have a tab for the 3 managers which shows the breakdown of who can attend each meeting. It will be for a total of 35 members.

How to start drupal from beginning practically? i mean, i am new to this so getting a little bit panic about this.

please guide me to start with the right source so that i can go ahead practically not only theoretically. so i want a correct way to start.

Is it easy to move from Drupal to customized code?

I'm the non-technical founder of a business and trying to learn about the tech side. I'm building a social networking site that will have highly diverse functionality and large number of users.

Currently I'm hiring a team to develop the MVP of the site on Drupal. However, I read Quora posts and found out Drupal will not work once the site becomes more complex and popular. Therefore I'm thinking about migrating the site from Drupal to customized code in the future.

Academic Journal Editorial Process RFP

We want to start an academic journal. Instead of a dedicated journal website (like OJS at UBC), we are wondering how much it would cost to adjust and install a Drupal module like Workbench to fit our needs. The work flow of most academic journals is similar, so such a modules may already exist and/or be useful for other journals, too. If we hire someone, we would like this module to become GPL for every other Drupal developer and/or academic journal. This is a way for a developer to put her footprint on a useful Drupal module.
