Community UGC site with a couple special considerations - is it possible with Drupal?

I'm planning on building a educational community site where users will be able to create lessons (essentially posts with videos, some text, and a downloadable PDF). The catch is that we have a proprietary file format that will have a player built with google web tools, which theoretically can be embedded on any HTML page. So users would need to be able to upload the proprietary file and have it play in our player. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work within Drupal? Are there any complications I should be aware of?

i am a newbie

I am new to Drupal. I come from java and .net background. What I'd like to know is how to create a jsp/aspx like page with form with some fields, list/table of records, hidden fields, couple of buttons, links, javascript functions,...

Student event signup with Teacher administration of event.

Hey guys, I am fairly new to drupal and need some help on where to start with this project. I basically need to create events where members(students) can sign up to. I will also need to give event administration privileges to a teacher but only for that specific event. The teacher can see who has signed up for the event and upload files/ post into that event. All students that signed up to that event can pay a fee to signup for that event and also be able to post/upload a file where only the teacher can see and not the other event participants.

paid membership system using drupal

Hi,

I'm interested in converting my news site in a paid membership site. So I'd appreaciate if anyoen can give directions about good modules/approaches to implement it.

In specific I have some questions about it?

- In your experiencie what modules could I use to implement a paid membership system?

- The database of members should be in a different database or database tables? I'm concerned about possible performance issues by having a user table growing and growing.

Thanks

paid subscription site

Just want some feedback about what people think about the viability of a subscription site.

I live in a rural farming area where a community newsletter is produced and distributed once
a month, other than that a static non interactive site which no-one bothers using because
it is not kept up to date.

Most people in my area are not really farmers but city people with hobby farms and many of
them enjoy having all kinds of get togethers, it is a semi close knit but rather protective community!

So I was thinking of creating a site where it would be part subscriber based on IP location
for those wanting a forum and instant chat even multiple video interface to use and then another
area people can sell and swap stuff, maybe even add personal blogs where users have control
over which other friends can log in to view and/or various community group blogs.

Finally a place for people to sell their homes with or without agent and viewable to all or
log in if they want and then the usual space for commercial advertisers.

Basically the country newsletter brought to interactive everyday life online via drupal.

My concern is people expecting it free so wondering if it will be worth the many long months
it would take me to put together. A few years back I had offered the
community association a web site but they declined in favour of a person willing to donate
