Just want some feedback about what people think about the viability of a subscription site.
I live in a rural farming area where a community newsletter is produced and distributed once
a month, other than that a static non interactive site which no-one bothers using because
it is not kept up to date.
Most people in my area are not really farmers but city people with hobby farms and many of
them enjoy having all kinds of get togethers, it is a semi close knit but rather protective community!
So I was thinking of creating a site where it would be part subscriber based on IP location
for those wanting a forum and instant chat even multiple video interface to use and then another
area people can sell and swap stuff, maybe even add personal blogs where users have control
over which other friends can log in to view and/or various community group blogs.
Finally a place for people to sell their homes with or without agent and viewable to all or
log in if they want and then the usual space for commercial advertisers.
Basically the country newsletter brought to interactive everyday life online via drupal.
My concern is people expecting it free so wondering if it will be worth the many long months
it would take me to put together. A few years back I had offered the
community association a web site but they declined in favour of a person willing to donate
