Before you start

Hi guys, I've been working with Drupal maybe for 2 yrs now, but haven't really developed anything like a "real system" with it, just basic website for small companies around my city.

But now I'm into a really project and I would like to do with Drupal.

I recently created a website. I wish to promote affiliate links on this site. Does any one knows what sort of modules I need to install to be able to post affiliate links, banners or list affiliate products on my site. I will be very glad for any help.

Can this scenario done with drupal...
classified site, visitor can browse the ads, members can buy ads slot(s), and the can manage it. First slot is free.

I did a search,but I could not find what I needed to know. I have never used CMS, except for WordPress. I have developed some pretty involved website using PHP. Now I think it is time to use a CMS. I have the task of building a Classified Ad type site, where customers will create a classified that needs to be paid for. Obviously Drupal can list the ads, I just want to know if I this is possible before I get to far into it.

I need a fast social network witout development.
What is better:
1 - Drupal commons OR elgg ?

2 - for the content managment , can set drupal in a directory inside elgg?
Should it work? in need a content managemnt inside the social network.
