Before you start

As a beginner, Should I start with Drupal 7, or wait for Drupal 8? Is D8 something that I will have to completely relearn everything? I am slowly working through tutorials trying to set a good foundation. I am hoping that I am not working on something that will be obsolete soon.

I am probing different CMS scenarios for a company distributing several hundred products. We need to be able to delegate writing permissions to different people looking after respective departments. Like, we need one person with permission to submit articles or posts in the pumps department, but not perhaps mills, and so on.
Can Drupal handle it by default or with some trusted additional modules?

I read many forum topic for this question. Is my site more suited to Drupal or Wordpress. You guys are probably tired answering this question but I couldn't figure out which one I should use.

I currently have two sites with wordpress and love it. It is def easy to use.

I have a site that has the requirement of running 2 urls. One that is for public access (i.e example.com) the other for internall network acess that will be used exclusively for administration of the site (i.e. admin-example.com). They are filtering on example.com keeping users from any admin area. Basically they need a solution to abstract public access from any administration.

I saw a few modules that deal with virual domains but am not sure which one will achieve my requirements.
