Drupal 7.23//Multicore Apache Solr 4.5// - Creating a Search Engine

I am looking to create a UI for my search engine project.
My data has been indexed in Solr. I don't want to index my website in Solr.

I'm not an UI expert but I found Drupal has some excellent modules for Apache Solr.
I want to build a simple website [Google like interface].

But I don't want to go in details of PHP and AJAX.
Can I use Drupal to create simple UI for me?

Thanks.

DEcision: Drupal or Drupal+PHP/JS

Hello everyone,
we currently face a tough decision for a new website.
The website is based on Drupal. Additionally we use a PHP,Mysql,JS based Backend that controls content on the website. It's added by embedding php into the drupal-pages.
Now we plan to add a new, complex Modul for managing our events. The system is big, but it can be developed in PHP/Mysql/JS by us, no problem.
The question is now if we should better develop the new event-modul as a drupal plugin, inside drupal.... or if we should go with the PHP version as planed.

Can Drupal do this? (Build social site)

Hey guys, I'm brand new and don't know... (well, I think you get the idea). So I'm going to ask a couple of very basic questions. First: what is Drupal? What can it be used for? And Second can it be used for social site building? Or is that pushing the scope of it's capability?

Want to look into building a community type site where folks can log in and kind of create their own simple site. Upload pictures add comments, give news etc.

Could this be done with drupal? If not, does anyone know of some other software that might be more appropriate for this?

subscribe or newsletter

Hi,
i just create a website like social Network. In my website user subscribe another user. Is this possible? Is there any module is available?
Please let me know...

Possible to allow users to post posts, but pending approval?

Is this doable with drupal? if yes, does it exist in an easy to deploy format.

I want to make a blog that will allow users to submit content and categorize it. The content will not be published until an admin approves it.

Other users can then comment on the post as well as add tags to it.

An option that would be nice is for users to be able to vote on a particular post.

Does something like this exist?

Learning test site

I would like to create a site of learning, based on book and "preset questions" where users can, in the same page:
1) Read the question
2) Enter their response into an editable field
3) Check out their answer in a field "previously hidden" and discovered through some mechanism like mouse-hover or a button "verify answer" to click.

Note: Users responses should not be saved to (1) allow the simultaneous use of multiple users and to (2) find the response-fields empty when they returns to the site
