Before you start

Hi,

I am new in drupal. I would like to create a website similar to Yellowpages (https://www.yellowpages.com.au/) for specific target customers. Is drupal would be a ideal platform to develop this? Any suggestions, what are the modules I can consider using? Is there any similar website built in Drupal exists?

Any help/suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Hi, I am creating an AppStore for western indie app developers who wish to penetrate the Chinese market. However, I am not sure whether Drupal is suitable for this as I have to handle to different account types, one for normal user and one for developers. Developers would be able to upload applications, write an description for it, and set a price. They would also have to enter their accounts for billing the profits to them. However, Drupal does not seem to be very strong on multi-vendor ecommerce features. They are either not suitable for production or are for Drupal 6.

I am currently working with Windows7.

I have just downloaded Drupal 7 but cannot find executable. What is the best approach to continue?
Do I need to change OS to run Drupal? If so, which OS is recommended?

I want to have a simple prototype version of my ecommerce site running as quickly as possible with an installation as simple as possible.

What is the best approach?
