Before you start

I have an existing site with zencart (e-commerce) installed in a subdirectory of a flat HTML site.... ie www.example.com/shop/

I'm looking to install Drupal to manage the main site content (at www.example.com), but I don't want change the anything about the zencart install as it is well indexed by search engines and working well as it is.

I will create a template to tie the two together visually but don't need to integrate them any further.

I'm investigating the possibilities of using Drupal to completely upgrade my present website, which has outgrown itself and is in need of a major update.

My website (fansite) deals primarily with four cult movie directors, and it sports a home page which lists upcoming DVD releases of interest to cult movie fans.

Each of the four movie directors in tern have their own news page (so in effect there are 5 unique news home pages), with details of new and upcoming DVD releases of their movies. These director pages link to their filmographies.

Is there a way to have links to external sites performed via a reliable redirect script ?

I will be creating a companies directory with drupal, and would like to know the number of clicks for each company (outside links).

Examples welcome.

Also, I will host a file download service, and again, I would like to count each time a file is clicked so I can know the most popular.

Our acct at NetFirms does not allow .htaccess files except for error pages and password protect. Will Drupal still run? If so, what would be compromised?

The site is currently managed by a CMS called Guppy. I'd like to be certain the data was all transferred and displaying before disrupting the site. Could I install Drupal in a subdirectory to test the content displayed before taking down the current pages?

I have Drupal 4.6.6 on a Testserver where PHP Safe Mode is OFF and everything works fine. Now it should be moved to a Server which has PHP Safe Mode ON. Are there any concerns with Safe Mode ON and Drupal 4.6.6?

I would like to implement a sorted list of nodes. The user should be able to re-sort the list based on certain parameter (e.g. parameter1 ascending order, or parameter2 descending order).

When one clicks on an intem in the list, he will be taken to the product description page (node).
