Before you start

Hi Everyone,

I am just returning to Drupal after about a 6 month break and i see that the new 4.7 is out with "improved file transfer" abilities.

I am hoping to use Drupal for a new site i am working on, and this site will require users to be able to upload large files (40-60 mb). I was also hoping that there might be some way to do this securely, both in terms of inter-user permissions (probably easily done), and in terms of encrypting the data transfer itself.

I'm pretty sure Drupal was not built with this capability (at least in the core) but perhaps with some kind of scripting is it possible to render sub-domains such as username.mydomain.com or taxonomyvocab.mydomain.com etc.

This would just be such a cool feature...

I'm on Dreamhost btw.

I've just noticed Drupal 4.6.5 on Fantastico.. I'm considering transferring my Wordpress site ( http://www.playstationteam.com ) to Drupal.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can go about a seamless change over?

Thinking of using Drupal in our IT department for the following tasks:

* Communications (archivable threads instead of siloed emails, preferably with email notifications)
* Document storage (with folders/subfolders, for procedures, policies, process etc)
* Project based and Task management, possibly deadlining
* General knowledgebasing (eg. all our communications are in searching forums)

Haven't looked at it properly yet but would it take much to make Drupal do this?

I'm wanting to use drupal to set up a site for a part time photographer. I've got a little drupal experience under my belt, but i stress *a little*. A simple website is no problem for me and my skills with drupal will work great for this. After just a public website I'd like to set up an area where clients could log in and view their own images. So this would be a private album that only one (possibly more) user would have access to, and is totally controlled by one admin user. Would the gallery module be suited for this?
