Before you start

Hello,

I am new to drupal and want to figure out whether drupal is the best solution for me. I want to build up a video sharing site like youtube that allow user to upload and share video. The site should also can transcode the video to mp4. I hope it also can support work flow. I try out some video sharing script, but they do not really suitable for me.

i can't upload file, i use xampp in mac osx. is there another way to give permission automatically from drupal?

I am a professional print publisher with some, but not a lot of experience in web development. My strong suits are graphic design, writing and other things related to print that cross over into the internet easily. I tend to like site builders, but I would also like to have a great site, with a lot of features and searchable capabilities. I don't mind learning... but... how hard is Drupal for those who don't have a lot of code and tech experience? What can I expect... do you think I can make the learning curve?

I'm looking for a theme that has the option to upload an image as the background without the use of views, modules, etc. Any recommendations?
