Considering using Drupal over MODx...

I've been using MODx for my CMS of choice for the last 5 years to build my web design business. It has served me really well, but I'm now looking at other open source CMS options out there. Their newest MODx fork (Revo) was not what I was expecting. It's really awesome, but a bit bigger and heavier than what I need. So I've started to scan the horizon for other options and it seems that Drupal is one of the big 3 open source CMS options I keep coming across: Drupal, Joomla and WP. Joomla is Joomla (enough said).

Views Block Performance Concern

Hello ive finally worked out the best way to present links on my website. You can view the block top right on this page
http://onlinebanter.com/betting (Scottish Football)

At the moment i only have 4 leagues and eventually in those leagues will be on average 10 teams each with 3 or 4 links each. I was thinking of adding maybe up to 15 leagues including the english leagues so will probably be looking at

15 leagues x 20 teams x 4 links = over 1000 links.

Newbie - Trying to figure out how to set up webpage the correct way

Hi
I am extremely new to drupal and am trying to understand how to go about creating my website. I want users to be able to search a list of food companies (i.e. General Mills) and their brands (i.e. type of cereals, candy etc...) and have the search results return a page with the company name, brand name and related information that I will input. In my mind this information on the company should be in a database. One company , its phone number, address, url etc... can have hundreds of brands with their own phone numbers, url, address etc...

Managed Drupal hosting

Hello

I was thinking over making a managed drupal hosting service for small sites. Some basic features:
- user can sign-up and get his own drupal instance up and running (that's it - one page registrate, second - login to his drupal)
- user can use his own domain name
- user can add his own themes and modules
- backend will be updated automatically with all pathces, etc
- backup, restore
- support only small drupal sites - like personal blogs, small e-apps

And offer this for the price similar to shared hosting.

Module to pull/fetch data from Wikipedia

Pull from wikipedia api / database

Hi Guys,

Do you have any idea if there is any tool for Drupal to do something like this http://www.aboutonlinetips.com/download-wikipedia-on-computer-for-offlin...

Basically, I need a module that will pull/fetch article from Wikipedia to my Drupal site and have a link going to the original article. This module will get/fetch the article that is more closer to the content in that particular page.

Mturk like Drupal module/plugin

Hi Folks and Masters,

Do you have any idea about creating a mturk like/ micropayment type add on to Drupal?

Scenario:

1. Users need to login and they get various tasks (add contents, add comments, like an article) and they would get paid a small amount, say .05 - 1 USD, for every task.

2. Once done the admin will approve and they will get paid. Once they do $25 worth of work they are able to withdraw the funds via paypal.

Additionaly, I wanted this to be a feed (similar to facebook/twitter) .
