I am in the process of designing a Project Management model that can aid in the development of company websites through the use of this awesome CMS. The model is the primary product of my thesis and I would be immensly grateful if some of you knowledgeable individuals would take 5 minutes out of your day to answer some simple questions.
Hi all! I am looking to broaden my network of Drupal Developers in the DC/Metro area to not only see if I can help you find IT positions, but mainly to learn more about Drupal since my position is regarded with finding qualified Drupal Developers.
Could somebody please explain to me in the lamest terms what I should know about Drupal? Any information helps...I have done a ton of googling but perhaps one of you could explain it in a better manner! Do you recommend any meet ups in the dc/metro area for me to attend to meet individuals and continute my Drupal education?
I created a Drupal site and wanted to allow discussion forums and comments on posts, but found that every day I wake up to dozens of garbage posts in Chinese. I joined the honeypot org to try and stem the tide, but that just made it worse, and made my site slower and unresponsive.
Finally, I disabled the discussion forums. Even the "administrator approval required" piece doesn't seem to really help because a lot of the names being used to join the site look legit on the surface "caligirl", etc., so I can't really judge that they're spammers.
The Drupal principles calls for collaboration, not competition. A corollary to this principle is that projects are not forked. If you want to add to a project, you do so by participating in its issue queue (by helping debugging, submitting patches, testing, etc.).
As long as Drupal projects are well-maintained, this principle works well. By "well-maintained", I mean that the project has an official maintainer that regularly oversees the project and makes sure it progresses towards completion and an official release with no outstanding issues.
Sometimes the maintainer disappears and the project becomes abandoned. This is usually not a problem, since there is an established procedure for dealing with abandoned projects.
Using the contributed module search functionality, I am unable to sort by relevancy or any other criteria other than the default setting, which is by most installs. Unfortunately, this renders the search function almost useless, since the same modules are always at the top of that list. I need modules that are relevant to my search terms, not modules that are popular.
