For the past 20 hours beginning on the hour, one of my sites has had about 300,000 "Login attempt failed for...". I'm guessing the average attempts is about 8 per minute. Previously, the largest brute force attack was 25,000 over 3 months during 2012.
Core, modules and themes are all up to date. No dodgy modules, libraries, themes or php code are within the installation. The site has not failed which is the primary reason I chose Drupal! I have some spam rejection modules installed which I will not disclose here.
Just seeking the general consensus... would Drupal be suitable as a platform for a social web place like Facebook? What scalability, security, user access permission issues, etc. would I run into, if any?
Does any body know about any great/ best practice hotel / holiday resort web sites build in Drupal 6 or 7?
What are the crucial elements and functionality that needs to be present to have a great hotel web site?
