Hi,

I've been a web developer for about 6 years, and I would love to contribute to Drupal. I specialize in LAMP Stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) and Javascript, and have experience working in Python as well. I'm most proficient at PHP.

Where should I start?

Will it be possible to easily upgrade from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 or should the whole site be rewritten from scratch?

Basically the subject is my question, why aren't the RSS feed implemented as a module and why are they enabled by default. For some people it may be an unnecessary feature.

So I want to make a site where people can join make a group/team and basically have members join it.
They would also be able to create events public and private.

So can Drupal do anything like this now, or can I modify/create a mod for drupal to do this?
This is basically for an airsoft competition site I may begin making.
Any tips advice comments etc please share.

Don't know where to put this but thought it worth sharing.
After working on several different D7 sites and many wonderful modules, when I start a new project it drives me crazy when I can't figure out what module I've used in the past gave me a certain feature. I have to redo all the research often to figure out what I did to accomplish something. Many times it's just very basic stuff.
