Install drupal 6 and 7 in subfolders of public_hmtl on shared hosting, and multisite or not?

I have a shared hosting account with hostgator, and currently have maybe 6 or 7 drupal 6 sites installed there. Drupal 6 is installed in the public_html folder. I have a couple of sites running in an multisite arrangment.

I would like to move most of the sites to drupal 7, but one or two cannot because of themes etc.

Can someone point me to a document that lays out how to install d6 and d7 in subfolders of public_html? I just think that would make a lot of sense organizationally.

Acquia Dev Desktop: Is it mandatory for Drupal 7 on Mac?

Hi,

I'm an individual who is learning Drupal 7 from a Lynda.com course. I'm working on a Mac OS 10.5.8 desktop, and have tried numerous times to download Acquia Dev Desktop for Mac, and keep getting the same error messages during and after installation. (Trying to open it gives me this message: "Cannot load dll: @@INSTALL_DIR@@/common/lib/libmysqlclient.dylib".) After a lot of Google searching, I've found others have been having this same problem for a few months.

New Drupal Site hosting take over

My company just took over a website that was created with Drupal. I am new to the whole Drupal world and I'm wondering if I need to install the Drupal GUI interface on a client PC or Server in order to maintain it, or if we actually received all the Drupal coding/gui interface when we moved the site to us? The site is up and running fine on and IIS server. So I'm assuming we have everything.
Thanks for any help/insight.
Tim
