Installing Drupal

(I don't know if this is the right forum. I'm cloning a Drupal installation, not installing from scratch. I've also asked this on Stack Overflow.)

We have a working Drupal 7 production site developed by an outside vendor. Now I want a local development version on my office computer (Windows, I'm afraid). I set up a WAMP stack, git cloned the working production site to my computer, and copied the database. I also copied from the production site /sites/default/settings.php and /sites/default//files . The result partially works.

Can someone advise how to solve the installation problem that throws up this error message at the end of a commerce kickstart(D7) install attempt. see attached screen cast.

I'm feeling totaly lost.

I have installed Drupal 7.14 from Debian squeeze local repository.

MyphpAdmin is working, i have added a new user; drupal for the new database.

I have symlinked /usr/share/drupal7 to /var/www/drupal.

I have run http://localhost/drupal/install.php. In the end, at http://localhost/drupal/install.php?profile=standard&locale=en, I Edn up with a totaly blank side.

I've problem on installation with my server.

When I run the script, first error shown as below:

I've developed my drupal site on localhost and I've transferred all the files to the public_html folder on my web server. I've exported the mysql database from localhost, imported it to my webserver and changed the necessary sections of settings.php

When I go to my URL I get the installation pages that you get when you first set-up drupal. Do I have to go through the installation process again? The reason I can't complete it at the minute is because I have to set register_globals to off, and I need to contact my web host about changing the php.ini

I have enjoyed installing 2 distributions (tb-sirate and zircon) but have the same issue with both:
Images show as placeholders ie Paths or image locations are incorrect.
When I try to create new content- eg an Article, I upload an image but a placeholder appears, not the image.
right-clicking the placeholder reveals that Drupal outputs the path to the image as here:
