Installing Drupal

Can anybody help me with the latest Drupal install. I'm installing from scratch (as I have done with previous versions on the same server). When I install the latest 7.30 version I get these errors immediately after the db is created:

I just update my drupal site in a server. In my local site all run good but in the server site when I click in a flag (normal flag, used only for flagged or unflagged content) the next error appear:

An HTTP error 500 occurred. http://mysite/flag/flag/nameoftheflag/29?destination=node&token=cd1823d7...

Anyone knows why it appear?

OK, I'm installing Drupal 6.32 over XAMPP on a Linux virtual machine (Ubuntu 12.04). The install is fine, and I'm just getting to the configuration.

However:

I've acquired management of an existing live website, and I want to bring a copy onto my local install so I can redevelop it - so ideally I need to find a way of getting my local install to recognise/log into the existing website's database (for which I have login/password).

Where do I look to install the site? (I presume I do that first - or do I?)
Can I simply use the existing database's credentials?
