asauterChicago commentedWould like to know this as well. Currently evaluating upgrading a site from D6 to 7 or going straight to 8. This is the only module I've encountered so far that doesn't have at least some progress towards a working 8 version.
Willing to lend my help as well. I'll clone the project later and see how much work it would be to get a working 8 version of this module.

greg boggsThere is now a dev branch for a D8 version if anyone is interested in contributing to the efforts. The dev branch doesn't yet function. But, it does kick off the process.
levelos commentedJust as a follow up, I want to stress that ThinkShout is committed to maintaining Entity Registration for D8. As Greg mentioned, the D8 port is still in it's infancy, but we'll be working on it in the coming weeks and months and welcome the communities contributions!
dpiAwesome, what I really enjoy is "duplicated effort".
kclarkson commented@levelos,
We really appreciate ThinkShout's contribution to the community.
My personal frustration has been the resistance to add simple features that make this module similar to the old "signup" module.
Such as the patch to add a default view for the registrations export. Or Rules Integration.

greg boggsHi Kaleem,
Thanks for sharing your concerns. Can you link me to the patches you're referencing?
We recently released many of the great community patches. You can see the full list of everything we were able to test and release here: https://www.drupal.org/node/2544986
Given the complexity and popularity of event registration, keeping registration stable while adding features and fixing bugs is a big task.
With D8 on the horizon, it's true that not every patch will make it into a stable release for the D7 branch. But, registration is very stable. So, patches that currently work will continue to work with only minor rerolls even if they don't get rolled into the stable release.

kclarkson commented@gregg,
thanks for your response and explanation.
The biggest feature that many many users have requested but have not been added due to ThinkShout's oversight of the module:
Provide Default View for Manage Registrations Tab: #1473714: Provide a view that replicates the "node/%/registrations" list with Views
This feature is crucial!!! it allows for custom views for the manage registrations tab as well as the ability to export a downloadable list from views. The original argument for not committing the patch is that ThinkShout didn't want to make it a dependency on views.
Now that views is in Core for D8 could this patch or an additional sub module be considered for the module?
greg boggsIt looks like it's come a long way with a lot of work put in. I believe in the last comment, Jami was hoping someone could update the summary of the issue to reflect the latest work. Are you familiar enough with the latest from the issue to provide such a summary: https://www.drupal.org/node/1473714#comment-10171486
Comment #10
stella commentedJust wondering what the status of this is, or how close we are to it? The release date for Drupal 8 core has just been announced, so just trying to get a feel for when this module might be ready for use in production.
weizrd commented+1 .Also asking: what is the status of the port? It seems that the module doesn not work with the latest core (8.0.1). I would really like to migrate my website to D8, but this module is essential. Thank you
Comment #12
greg boggsYou are correct, the module still needs more work to finish the port.
Anonymous (not verified) commentedIs there another solution available in D8 for now to do event registration like these ?
rdworianyn commentedAlso wondering the status on this port to Drupal 8. Any information or general timeline would be appreciated. Also, if there's anything I can do to assist, please let me know.
thomas cysIs this module slowly dying?
jonathanshawMaybe RNG is emerging as the D8 replacement for Entity registration.
gusans commentedhi! I'd like to know if there has been any progress on this port.
kclarkson commented@gusans,
I would go with https://www.drupal.org/project/rng
RNG is the new hotness!
mrpauldriver commentedA up to date statement from the maintainers would be helpful. Likewise for registration_commerce
Thanks
Comment #20
nicjasno commentedRNG is lacking a lot of stuff.
mgiffordWhat's RNG missing. I'm impressed that it's got documentation lined up https://dpi.id.au/rng-quick-start/
A feature comparison would be useful, but RNG seems to be working for D8, which is one big feature over the rest, including https://www.drupal.org/project/registration_commerce
So, ya, to echo @MrPaulDriver would be great to hear the maintainers give us an ETA or ideas for how to help the full D7 module get upgraded to D8.
chris matthews commentedSo, is 8.x-1.x officially dead? What's strange is there are commits on a 8.x-2.x branch, but that branch has not been published on Drupal.org. To echo others, it would be really nice to know from the maintainers what is going on with this project. If no further development will happen for 8.x then the project page should probably be updated accordingly.
kclarkson commentedAt this point I would go with Webforms. Webforms has an example module to use as an event registration system. Most of the features you wanted from entity registration are part of this module.
mrpauldriver commentedUnderstand that RNG -Events and Registrations is actively maintained.
proweb.ua commentedfound module https://www.drupal.org/project/erf
Comment #26
mmekutIt is a pity that the D8 porting has been abandoned by the maintainers without any notice.............
@levelos and @greg boggs
What's the project status?.............is there any plan for this OR should we look for alternatives?
Do you need new maintainers?......as i would love to contribute to the 8.x-2.x-dev branch.
bramvandenbulcke commentedWe use this module in combination with Commerce and Redhen on several Drupal 7 websites. Some of these will be migrated to Drupal 9 later this year.
On one website with Redhen we will need to do a migration for sure. Because Registration is tightly integrated with Redhen, we hope some progress can be made with the port of this module. Thanks!
ladybug_3777 commentedWanted to notify anyone that is using Drupal 9, that the RNG module is a bust. I was able to install it with composer (3.0.0-alpha) but once I tried to enable it my entire site was hosed and had to be restored from a backup.
Be warned if you attempt to use RNG, as of this writing it does not work and will cause you a lot of headaches
Comment #29
john.oltman commentedI applied to become maintainer and do the port.

jonathanshaw@john.oltman I've got some interest in this module and need to get something working this year. I'd be interested in discussing your plans, my plans, and how to reduce overlap with RNG.
john.oltman commented@jonathanshaw I am planning a straight D7-feature-to-D9-feature port finished this summer with no dependencies on any other modules except Drupal core. If you install the D7 version of this module you'll get an idea of how it will work, except the Registration States will use core workflows and of course everything using the latest D9 engine underneath. It will include migration as well for existing D7 users of the module. I see RNG as a possibility for people that want something different in the registration space and are starting a new site. The module I am building is for those that have an existing site using the D7 entity registration module and have existing D7 registration data, and need to migrate their site and data to D9. Let me know your thoughts, happy to do a Zoom if you want to discuss on a call.
john.oltman commentedThe port to Drupal 9 is in progress and will be ready in a month or two.
juan.ibarra.cantavella commented@john.oltman I have a D7 using entity registration and I need to migrate to D9. Happy to help or have a discussion
Comment #35
john.oltman commented@juan Thank you, the D9 release is ready, just getting the appropriate access to push the branch and do a release candidate. Should be any day.
earthangelconsulting commented@john.oltman - this is very exciting, thanks for doing this! i will be happy to be a beta tester
