Problem/Motivation

The project page lists features and compatible modules that no longer hold on Drupal 10+. I went through each one:

  • Node.js integration (realtime comments): the ajax_comments_nodejs submodule is 7.x-1.x only. It did not come across in the Drupal 8 rewrite, and there is no separate project providing it. Node.js integration itself is 2.0.0-alpha2 for ^8 || ^9, so it cannot be installed on Drupal 10 either way.
  • Comment Goodness: newest release 7.x-1.4
  • Comment sort by created: newest release 7.x-1.0-beta1
  • Advanced Forum: marked unsupported, with only an 8.x dev snapshot.
  • Fivestar: 8.x-1.0-alpha5 covers ^9.2 || ^10, and 3.0.x-dev covers ^10.3 || ^11. Alive, but there is nothing in this module that integrates with it.
  • Display Suite: alive and current. Taking over how the comment field renders can stop ajax comments working though, see #45 in #3113225: Don't rebuild the entire comment field/thread when posting a comment.
  • CAPTCHA: CAPTCHA is alive, but there is no CAPTCHA specific code here, so I cannot say whether this still holds. Also, there are a ton of different CAPTCHA modules out there for Drupal.

The page also has no mention of 2.0.x, and the difference between the branches.

Proposed resolution

  • Drop the compatibility list on the homepage, most of the modules on it are either dead or have a known conflict with Drupal 10.
  • If the page says we work with a module, there should be a test that proves it.
  • Add a section that explains the differences between 1.x and 2.x and explains the upgrade path.
