Problem/Motivation

There are people in the community that want to help and enable the Friday Get Involved Sprint, but the do not have a way to track what needs to be done, or what one small part they can help with.

irc factoids in the mentoring channel, tweets between some people, emails, google spreadsheets and docs are ok, but they are not totally "in the open".

A goal for DrupalCon Amsterdam is for many participants to be set up with dev tools before the “First Time Sprinter Tools Workshop” or at least have it synced before they come to the conference

Complete migration of drupalmentoring.org features into d.o: #2173425: [META] Merge DrupalMentoring.org features into Drupal.org.

There is more to do to get ready for DrupalCon. This meta is about things not dealing with d.o.

Proposed resolution

Use issues to track some of the things to do, or some things blocking improvement in the DrupalCon Friday sprint. For now, issues in this project will suffice. (Component Miscellaneous).

from #2232043: Get ADD2 ready for Drupal 8 mentoring at DrupalCon Austin - just noting that I think we should careful presenting ADD as a canonical development environment since many mentees consider this their introduction into the "right way" for drupal development tools. I think a vagrant based setup would be preferred, but at least having some indication that using ADD is mostly for quick/easy setup rather than a more robust/traditional/professional one. I've added #2232049: Get Vagrant D8 VM ready for Drupal 8 mentoring at DrupalCon Dublin as a child issue.

If we start using this for Bogotá, we can just add deadlines in the items above in addition to the amsterdam ones.

for example, right now:
(2014 July) Begin recruiting mentors (recognize sponsors on mentor communications)
it would be something like
(2014 July, 2015 Jan) Begin recruiting mentors (recognize sponsors on mentor communications)

because the same things might need to be done, just different dates.
If something was not needed, maybe we note it as...
(2014 July, B N/A) Begin recruiting mentors (recognize sponsors on mentor communications)
where B N/A would stand for Bogotá Not Applicable

We need to make sure the breakout room (E001) stays available for Hard Problems discussions. Can we assign this task to someone, maybe the room monitor for whatever room is nearby? A "Reserved" sign on the door would be good.

We need to clear out some old dates, make new ones for bogota and LA, and verify people are willing to do some things, or find new things or new people.

Hi All,

As much as a I really want to be there, I won't be able to make it to LA.

I can however do all the task's listed above that are currently assigned to me.

What I will need is someone who is willing to run the tools installation part of the workshop to spend some time with me so I can run through what issues might crop up and how to address them (though I do think I've dealt with pretty much all of the known ones).

Cheers
Brian

Thanks!

Booth lead has some advance planning the months before. And communication during. Mostly can be there the first and last shifts of tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Hi guys, I'm attending DrupalCon and I have something to offer developers due Drupal Code Sprint
We have a platform based on Docker which provides environment you need to start develop on Drupal
You can write code and debug remotely via SFTP/SSH, so you can just install IDE and start contributing

Please share your thoughts with me on that subject, thank you

our mentoring instructions are missing explicit steps to have mentors make sure participants read and follow the contributor tasks guidelines for the types of things people need to do on issues. https://www.drupal.org/contributor-tasks ... we should fix that, in both the irc instructions and mentoring at events doc pages.

Hi there,

I've been talking with YestCT and I think I can take care of the Booth coordination. I've been in the booth in Prague and Amsterdam, so I know what's involved. I'm also a "local" and I'm on the local organizers mailing list and I think that can help too.

Best regards,
David.

Docs reviewed and updated per #69

YesCT’s picture

@David Hernández Thanks! I know you have the experience and responsibility to handle the booth stuff well.

@akalata Thanks for updating those docs. Hopefully it will help the new mentors know they should be sharing a contributor task document with each of their participants. And using the review notes on those docs to review their participants work. :)

Here is an issue to track finding a overall planning coordinator for NOLA: #2525922: (NOLA, Due: 2015-07-31) Find mentoring coordinator and planning lead for NOLA DrupalCon New Orleans

Xano’s picture

I am on vacation now, but back next week with more time for community work (thank you, new job!). I will attend DrupalCon Barcelona, including the pre- and post-conference sprints. How can I help?

YesCT’s picture

@Xano super! Since you have done booth things, you can help @David Hernández with booth things, before hand and help review work on Friday (and help new mentors and help make sure RTBC issues are really rtbc). And remember to fill out the mentor spreadsheet of awesomeness. :)

I'm closing this issue as as part of issue queue clean-up meta: #2960983: [meta] Plan for Mentoring Project/Issue Queue. This does not mean topics in this issue is or was not important or completed.

As issue was clearly for DrupalCon Amsterdam, it seems an outdated one and could be closed as is.
