History of generating tag cloud
Hopefully we don't need to edit the text; it's generated from a 1200-row dataset which is parsed by a ruby script from the Drupal 8 git repository log. Generating the tag cloud was pretty time-consuming (even after I gave up on on one tool in favor of another). I spent several hours trying to get a good layout with the [[ YOUR NAME HERE ]] in the center and a good color palette. There was no way to export it to any image format; I got the format I did by printing it as a PDF.
Here's instructions if you want to try yourself until you decide the one I sent along is just fine. ;)
1. Visit http://www.wordle.net/advanced in Safari (it does not work in Chrome).
2. Paste the attached dataset in the first box. (Pulled from http://ericduran.github.io/drupalcores/ ...)
3. Submit the form.
4. Under "Font," select "Meloche Rg Bold."
5. Under "Layout," select "Horizontal."
6. Under "Layout," select "Rounder edges."
7. Under "Layout," select Re-layout with current settings" until you get a good layout that looks balanced with the [[YOUR NAME HERE]] in the center.
8. Under "Color," go to "Edit custom palette..." and pick the colors you want.
9. Under "Color," select the amount of color variation you want. I used "Wild variation."
10. Under "Color," select "Recolor" until you get an attractive palette where the [[YOUR NAME HERE]] pops and names like Tim's, dawehner's, and sun's don't overpower everything else.
11. Print the image as a PDF.

realityloopI think the side that says you is a bit ambiguaous at a glance..
my suggestion would be for it to say something like "Help make Drupal better!"

kthullA few questions:
What's the significance of the 3/31 due date, since it's already past?
How/where are these distributed?
What is the actual date cards are needed in hand?
How many get printed?
Who owns the copy for the Austin card?
ZenDoodles CreditAttribution: ZenDoodles commentedGood questions Kevin!
I'm not sure what the due date is all about. Cathy? Possibly that's an artifact from the old timeline?
There are cards distributed in the give-away bags and some things get distributed at the mentor volunteer table. However, I was about to suggest we can rethink some of the print materials and see if we can remove some waste. Given that in the past, theoretically everyone got a card in their goodie bag, but we still gave away quite a few at the mentor table, it seems like we could simplify (or eliminate?) the card for the goodie bag to just suggest people come to the table and meet some mentors. Alternatively, would be kinda cool to have stickers maybe? Everyone likes stickers!
I think we need to have the cards to the folks at the DA the week before. I will confirm with Stephanie and find out about payment. I need to ask her for the sponsor packet anyway. I think information about how many will be in that packet too.
We still have not decided on the copy, (@see above re: rethinking the distribution materials). Cathy (YesCT), Scott (Cottser), and I will likely work together to finalize something once we have decided what the something(s) is/are.
I believe we'll also need ai/eps files for the various logos/iconography as well?

kthullWho can hook me up with the branding materials for Austin? Fonts, logo, backgrounds, colors, etc.

stephelhajj CreditAttribution: stephelhajj commentedHi guys, just popping in here quick.
Here are some print-ready resources for Austin: https://austin2014.drupal.org/press/resources
To maintain brand integrity, I'd like to request that you stick with the Core Mentoring branding and compliment it with our public branding elements, rather than try to match the DrupalCon Austin branding. Does that make sense?
Cheers,
Stephanie

kthullHi Stephanie! Where can I get Core Mentoring branding assets?

YesCT CreditAttribution: YesCT commentedZenDoodles might have the mentor green Druplicon, but aside from that,
Roger has the postcard sources and
willyk has the other green signs (#2235971: Update mentor booth sign (slides on thumb drive for monitor) with list of BoFs).
I emailed Roger again to get the sources posted here. Maybe Kevin would have better luck emailing Roger directly?
The deadline is a goal date, that would allow the printer enough time to get the order clarified, and printed and get shipped to the DA.
As we go past the date, we are risking not having enough time.
To get more info we need someone to contact print shops and ask *them* what their time limits are.
kthullStill need a quantity and budget. Those are both critical bits. Quantity directly impacts schedule.

kthullIs there any expectation on coating? Gloss, matte, none, who cares?
YesCT CreditAttribution: YesCT commentedwould matte be better if we were to draw on it with sharpies?
(this sometimes happens at the mentor booth as we talk with attendees about what might be things they are interested in)
kthullThat answers my question. Thanks!

rggoode CreditAttribution: rggoode commentedI've attached a ZIP archive with the files from the last paostcard (Prague)
The Zip file is: Postcard-files.zip
It contains:
DrupalCommunity-postcard.ai
DrupalCommunity-postcard-Prague-BACK.pdf
DrupalCommunity-postcard-Prague-FRONT.pdf
Note that BOTH the front and back are in the one Illustrator file, using different layering. A couple items (like the footer) are common to both sides and remain on all the time. Change the front and back by turning off/on the other layers, as needed.

If only tweaks and updating session recommendations, Roger is up for doing. *but* should allow ample time.
If complete redesign, would be someone else needed to step up.
kthullFYI, if we go with the 4,000 cards as currently planned (which Zendoodles has a strong opinion about), the estimate I got back from the printer is $325 and shipping would be on top of that. If we stick with this route, I will go back and see about getting that number down a bit. I quoted it on 100# cover and we could easily drop to 80# cover considering the intended use.
ZenDoodles CreditAttribution: ZenDoodles commentedPer @stephelhajj, We don't get postcards in the DrupalCon packets as part of our package anymore.
