Find place for DrupalCon mentor thankyou dinner

Hi, all--

@stpaultim tagged me for this on Twitter. I'm new to LA but learning quickly. I'd be happy to take this task on. Is there a budget for the event? Once I know that, I'll contact 5-6 venues close to the convention center and figure out what is available.

Thanks for the reminder to update on this. I have a list of likely venues but haven't had a chance to call. They're arranged by distance from the Convention Center; I've bolded the ones that seem most appropriate to me.

I called everyone this morning.

Promising leads:
Local Table -- They have availability and are happy to have us. She says the space is set up well for large groups and is sending me the menus.
WoodSpoon -- Also has availability. They are going to have the events coordinator call me back.

Not promising:
Alma doesn't accept parties bigger than 4.
Bottega Louie doesn't accept reservations at all (they suggested we try to walk-in with 45 people, so....)

I suggest going with Local Table. They'll accommodate 45 people, they have meat & vegetarian options available, and they are available the day we need them (which I assumed was May 15, post-sprint).

At this point, I think it makes most sense for an event organizer (YesCT?) to call them, pick the menu, and give them the credit card number, rather than have me serve as go-between.
