I've got a basic installation of Drupal/Civicspace up at inactivist.org, but I have some more specific needs that are, frankly, beyond my ken. I'll repost some stuff I've written elsewhere, modified a bit for this forum:
I've got a few templates/themes/skins (I have no idea what the difference is) in mind as guidance towards my own sites ultimate look -- and a few functions I need, too -- but I've not the first clue how to get from the abstract, esoteric "here" to a functional "there".
The functional "there" would be a community site/blog with a few front-paged contributors, sub-diaries that I can promote, and....
1) A sidebar with links to archived articles on permanent pages, as well as a good-looking permanent "Articles" archive page. Specifically, I want to move the "New Libertarian" articles we've posted at neolibertarian.net onto this new site, and be able to create new articles for that article repository (as articles, rather than as promoted blog posts).
4) A module (?) somewhere on the front page that allows me to link to new diaries by community members. Sort of a "recent Diaries" link module.
5) Another module that allows me to link to off-site stuff. A la the "Elsewhere" module at www.TCSDaily.com.
6) Another module for the poll du jour, so members can see the poll and vote from the front page, rather than having to visit the poll post, or keep the poll post sticky at the top of the blog. Eventually, I'd like to be able to break out that poll data (of voting members) for research, contact and lobbying purposes.
