I would like to have the ability to have users posts be in a "featured area" for a certain amout of time (or til a certain condition, such as a read or review is met x number of times)

Is there any way with any conbination of modules or settings within drupal 5.1 to do this ?

The effect I am looking for is certain posts can appear at the top of the front page but will disappear on their own.
