The Columbia Daily Spectator, the student newspaper of Columbia University, is looking to overhaul its Web site (http://www.columbiaspectator.com/) this summer. At the moment, the site is hosted and maintained by College Publisher, but we're finding the CMS increasingly inflexible and the design outdated. We're seeking a Drupal-experienced developer to redesign the site and migrate our archives. There are a few major sticking points:
1. Timing -- It's tight. Our contract with CP runs out on July 15, so we'd want to implement the new site and migrate the content by then.
2. Content -- There are about 12,000 articles in our archives—many with media attached—and 700 user accounts. Obviously we need to migrate all of this content as seamlessly as possible.
3. Price -- Unfortunately, as we're a student run non-profit, our price range is somewhat limited: the cap would be in the $10-12K range. I gather most design firms bill by the hour, so I guess it would depend on whether this type of site is feasible in however much time that would afford us.
Below, I've included a basic set of requirements/site structure. As I said, the timing is tight, so quick responses are much appreciated. My Gmail account is john.davisson—let me know via email if you need any more information or would rather speak by phone.
Thanks,
John
