FreeNAC.net is an open source project, and we wish to redo our website. So we’re asking for professional help to kick start us.
Aims:
- appeal to a professional market to sell an ‘enterprise’ version
- appeal to the OpenSource community, with a ‘community’ section
- a nice clean, technical looking site, but not too flashy, and very easy to use
Tools: I’ve installed and played briefly with Drupal 5, and it really does seem very nice. I also program in PHP, so feel good with drupal strategically. I started creating content and realised that quite a bit of expertise is needed to build a really nice theme (CSS), and that out of the box, the layout is not enough.
(Your) Task: Get the presentation elements (CSS) and configuration of drupal right, and you make suggestions based on your experience for the website layout.
Appearance:
- Colours: some clean, elegant, not cluttered, with the FreeNAC logo/colours Blue/White
boxes/corners are to be rounded
- Fonts: Sans serif for text (which)
- Texture: consider dropped shadow to provide some 3D, and a gradient in the title box?
Layout:
- logo top left, that links to the start page
- menu on the left or top (probably left)
- the user login box should be much more discrete that default drupal templates, e.g. on the bottom
Technical Requirements:
- "clean urls": nicer for users and search engines
