I want to turn Drupal into a "periodical platform" - i.e. a site that can support 'web zines' (newsletters) or a delivery of an educational course. Thus new members would start with the first edition/lesson and will gain access to subsequent issues on a regular basis (typically monthly) as long as they remain subscribed. Possibly the 'e-publish' module would be relevant here. For my first site I envisage a free membership level and one or two paid ones.

Another desirable feature that I want is to allow non-paying (free) subscribers limited access to material but they will still be able to purchase items such as ebooks or software on a "one off" basis; paying subscribers will have full access to such content without further payment being required. Ideally I would like to maintain a single copy of such material and grant temporary access to it for those 'free' members who have elected to purchase such items. In other words their rights would be extended to include specific items (pages/download links) that they have paid for. Consequently there may be many individual users granted access (for a while) to particular items, rather than granting group rights as in the usual case.

I need a modification to the create account script that will initially show only two text fields.. firstname and lastname. The new user will enter these and click 'continue', which will start the usual registration form, and fill in the username automatically with 'firstname.lastname' -- it would be best if the username field was set to readonly, so the new user couldn't change the generated username.

It is also necessary that the initial two text fields would set the appropriate fields in the profile page, and not appear for registered users.

I'm having difficulty getting quickfile to work with internet explore, when I click on place order nothing seems happen. has anyone be successful in getting quickfile to work with internet explore?
