How to clear cache automatically?

I turn on normal cache and set time interval to 10 minutes.
As i understand - now i also have to configure to run cron.php every 10 minutes.

I worry - can this slow down my site?

Maybe i can clear cache in other way, for example: when anonymous user visit page - drupal calculate "if cache is older then 10 minutes", if true - then cache is cleared.

Can i implement this mechanism of clearing cache?

A new "scalability and performance" category for the modules list on drupal.org ?

Do you think it would be a good idea to have this category in the list of modules on drupal.org ? http://drupal.org/project/Modules

In my opinion :

There are enough modules dealing with this subjects (more than 20).
It is good for the marketing and the credibility of the drupal project.
It is useful when we are looking for modules
The "utiliity" category contains already more than 300 projects and it is too big to browse it.

High performance web host?

I'm looking for a super speedy web host without the cost of a dedicated server. I've tried a vps package from godaddy and shared hosting from pair networks. Are there vps packages out there under US $50/ month which offer better performance than a shared plan?

Any ones which allow for large amounts of RAM?

Guidance on custom mail forms

I have a requirement for my current project to have two custom mail forms with numerous fields.

My obvious reaction to this is to develop a xhtml based form and place it into the content of a page node. I can see this is possibly not going to work however.

Obviously there is the option for just ONE contact form within Drupal which you cannot apply custom fields to presumably without installed CCK which I cannot at present as I an running V6.01.

What has anyone else done where forms have been required for drupal sites?

...20% speed increase
