Updating Drupal sites - a short survey

Updating your Drupal website(s) has never been easier than it is now with Drupal 6 and the Update Status module that is in core and is also available for 5.x. However, you still have to actually go and 'do' the updates. You still need to login to your site, download the modules, install them and run update.php.

At UnderDesign, we are investigating the possibility of offering an update service for Drupal until and unless updates are able to happen automatically within Drupal. Before we go ahead and start to plan how we would offer such a service securely, affordably and reliably, we would like to try and get an idea of whether or not it would be used (makes sense, right?).

We've posted a short survey on our website and would be grateful to any Drupallers who would take three minutes to offer their answers and opinions. This is only a preliminary survey and we may be back to ask more questions.

In return for completing the survey, we're making a special hosting offer to everyone who helps us out by answering our questions. Details are on the survey page below:

Performance when using database on remote server

Any comments on the following would be appreciated.

I am moving a Drupal 4.7 app to a new set-up for a client. This new set-up has its database on a different server to the website. The site is working ok.

Is this set-up necessarily slower than having the database on the same server as the website?

Thanks
Terry

Changing site's domain name

I'd like to change my site's domain name, can somebody advise where I do this please? I've been through the settings and can't seem to find anywhere that specifies the url.

I've used my original url for another site, so anything I now do with the older site always forwards me to the newer location.

Intermittent Google Analytics bug

Hello,

We recently installed the new version of Google Analytics tracking on our Drupal 4.7 Web site. We were not able to find a functioning version of the GA module for this version of Drupal, so we added the tracking code to our tpl php files.

textimage gives useless image.

Hello,

Using drupal 4.7.6 with captcha-4.7.x-1.2 and textimage-4.7.x-2.1

When turned on and used the textimage module gives images that contain points, lines and circles, but nothing that can be recognized as text in any way.

Example image: http://www.asadaga.be/allerlei/captcha.gif

Anybody here has an idea of what's going on and how to fix it?

Thanks,
Steve
