A n00b with a few questions

Hello All!

Currently my webhost, MediaTemple, provides 1 click installs (very easy!) for Drupal 4.7.6. Unfortunately, it seems you only support one previous version, when it comes to upgrades, and revisions.

I can stick with 4.7.6 (which I've never used, actually never used Drupal), or manually install the latest version. However, I have a few questions.

1. If I choose not to stay with 4.7.6 which version should I download, Drupal 5 or 6? This is coming from a strict n00b. I can figure out what I need to, with the exception of moderate to advanced PHP and SQL (then I'm lost - srsly).

2. The other question, and I hope the forum's domestic overseer's don't get upset for these ?'s... how common is it to use this software as a shopping cart on top of it's CMF/CMS intentions? Unfortunately, I'm not fond of magento, oscommerce, or zen-cart, mostly because they are incredibly difficult to operate. I do not know how to change lay outs, even after reading mountainous amounts of documentation. And drupal appears [keyword: appears :P] to be somewhat more user friendly in these departments. I have 2 shopping carts/eStores I need to get online

therefore
