Web Host Security

Well, there seems to be a lot of discussion about uptime and CPU speed and disk space and PHP version and such, but I think a very important parameter is being overlooked in all these discussions: Security.

I am sick to death of spam-bots scouring my shared host's severs and gleaning email addresses. I've resorted to setting all my domains to "Delete all messages with a spam score greater than 0." Not to mention that once a year or so, all my domains get blacklisted due to spam floods being traced back to my server's IP address.

Two identical sites...one works, one has problems

I'm having a strange issue...I have two identical sites up and running- one live and one a test site. I was working on making the site more user friendly from a phone but ran into an issue. All phones run the live site, but while some phones run the test site, others will not load anything. When I check my php error log there is
[10-Jan-2008 10:08:00] PHP Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in X:\Inetpub\woms\includes\bootstrap.inc on line 574

Creating Autocomplete Text Fields similar to Autocomplete search fields !

I am trying to create a module to register for an online course. It involves the students to input their name, address, email address and name of the school. Currently they are just text fields using the forms api. The problem is that a lot many a times, students from the same school enter the name of school in different manner and as such, one school is stored in the database under multiple names. This becomes an issue if i try to search for a school as not all the entries would come up.

Suggestions for setting up client-worker job/reporting interface

I had some web developing experience with drupal but I haven't done work with drupal in about 2 years... I thought I'd do myself a favor and instead of spending several hours scouring the web for posts 'sorta-not-really-but-so-close' to what I envision to accomplish, I would ask it straight out here and see if someone has a kind-hearted suggestion. This is what I want to build:

A drupal site that is a primarily for clients, employees, managers to login to their respective user accounts and manage their work.
  • Create 'Jobs' and assign to selected Employee, Client and Manager user accounts.
  • Allow employees user accounts to post 'status reports' about what they accomplished on what date in what time period. Basically a 'report' with a few extra custom fields that are required to be filled out. These reports can be accessed at any time by the respective client and or manager with certain privileges to individual fields.
IE the client wont see how much time is spent on any one task. Also, these reports are linked to a single job, which is linked to a select(ion) of employee(s), manager(s), and client. I hope you understand the whole point of this databasing and viewing structure im pointing at.
  • 'Report' nodes are configure to be published for viewing by client automatically or selectively by the manager.

Node link question

I'm a total newbie here so forgive me if this question seems totally ridiculous:

Ive created a bunch of forums under my main forum container and now wish to link it up in my primary links area. However it does not make sense to me which node/ path I should insert to link it.

How do you know what node number should go where?

Thanks so much for the help. Drupal rocks!
