I'm building an alumni website for a university. They would like to have the alumni register themselves with accounts, partly because we don't have current email contact info for most of them. Unfortunately, this means that every time someone wants an account, we gave to check their nae against a list of about 10,000 names. I have the list in excel format ATM. Is there any way to have account requests authenticated against a database of names like this?
I would like to make a website mainly for classifieds ads. I'd like to know what modules are the best, even if there are no updates yet for the latest version of drupal. I'm interested in categorizing ads, user administration, any other tips you can give, much appreciated.
I've just started with drupal, read some tutorials, but cant say I know all and the curve of learning is harder.
It's very frustrating when browsing the handbooks section, and you keep getting, for example 5.x stuff yet you want 4.x stuff. Why can we not just have handbook subdomains or taxonomies. SUch that once you click a 5.x taxonomy page, you are guaranteed 5.x pages.
Could anyone explain the disavantages of such a setup, please.
