Need hierarchival URL scheme

Hi.

There's a site running on an old Movable Type install that I'd like to convert to an open-source CMS. I would like to change as little as possible to the site and how it works -- in particular, I would like to preserve its URL scheme, the section breakdown, and the user permissions. Drupal, however, doesn't seem to be able to handle this.

In more detail: The main parts of the old site consists of three "weblogs" (in the technical Movable Type sense), two of them with multiple contributors. The blog up front lives in the Web root, both other blogs each have a home directory of their own.

There are three things I like in this setup that don't seem to translate to Drupal:

01 Hierarchical URL scheme. The three blogs each have a subdirectory where the posts are archived, and this directory structure is reflected in the URLs generated, leading to hierarchical "section" breakdown even in the URLs.

02 Customised sections. As each blog can be templated individually, the output of each site section can be adapted and finetuned to the requirements of that specific section.

03 Easy user management. Site contributors either are signed up to a given blog, or they are not (they are signed up on the assumption that they will contribute to any of these blogs -- it is not assumed that they need, or will ever get, a blog of their own on that site).

The lack of URLs reflecting a section breakdown bugs me the most since I think of hierarchical URL schemes as a norm from which Drupal's URL scheme deviates.

Importing articles via RSS

I have a large number of articles from a non-drupal site (Coranto, actually) that I need to import into Drupal 4.7.2.

phpbb2drupal = Access Denied?

so i installed the phpbb2drupal module and enabled it in the admin settings, but when i navigate to

admin/phpbb2drupal

as per the install instructions, i get Access Denied even though I am logged in as superuser.

Any ideas?

convert html-site to drupal

Hello!
I’m just a beginner in Drupal. I’m interested in the following question: Is it possible to convert to Drupal existing static html-site? If yes, how to do it.

Converting multilingual sites to drupal

I'm considering converting several sites that we have in our organization to Drupal. They are all currently either static, on Movable Type or in a custom homebrew CMS. I've looked at the Internationalization module for Drupal and so far have been impressed with what I've seen. This question has to do, though with intergrated search. We want to have a search feature on one of the sites that returns results for all the sites. Is that something that is possible with Drupal/existing modules? or is that something that would have to be custom written?

Generate Excerpts for imported nodes - reprocess excerpt + input filter

Hi,

I am just struck with the problem that I important a ton of content into my drupal 4.7,
taxonomy works, node works, everything...
(the import was done via a bunch of sql scripts)

- but now I enabled the excerpt module and want to autogenerate the excerpts that are usually
generate with the "edit" function

- also I'd like to apply another input filter (textile) to all the nodes

How can I trigger a reprocessing of all nodes???

thanks in advance, help is much appreciated!

Christoph
