Need help migrating your site to Drupal?

No pager showing for posts

I am converting a site of mine from some custom code over to Drupal.

In doing so I moved some of the content into the node tables via SQL calls and changed the node sequence.

However now when I go to the home page, it shows the 10 posts that the post setting says it should, but there is no pager down at the bottom of the page to show the other nodes that are in the database.

is there some setting in the database tha i forgot to change?

Converting and/or upgrading wastexchange.co.uk to Drupal

Hello all !
We manage the following web sites developed on php + mysql
http://www.wastexchange.co.uk (international version)
http://www.borsarifiuti.com (Italian version)

The Italian version is the local (italian) node of a network (when other local nodes will be available) of national wastexchange web sites and it's based on the same technical specifications of the international web site.
We have actually more than 1.200 registred Companies, (1150 free basic members and 50 advanced (paid) members

We need costantly to modify, upgrade, update, the system, add new functionality, and so one...
The web site allow company worldwide to exchange recyclable waste, recycled materials and products etc.. posting buy/sell listings or replying to existing lysting.....
In addiction, we have some other usefull sections...(news, events, link, downoload, faq etc...) and a powerfull admin-side tool to manage all the web site contents (user, listings, replies, news, events, newsletter transactions...)
Unfortunately, we produced the tecnical specifications only in Italian language.....

We are interested in converting the wohle system to Drupal, aiming to a more flexible system and to have available the drupal developer community.
Alternatively, we are interested in a collaboration to develop other functionality to improve the exchange system.

Do you think it could be feasible ?

Wordpress to Drupal migration module released

Hello friends!

Finally, working and well-tested migration utility that allows you to move Wordpress blog under Drupal CMS is here. This module supports Drupal 4.7 (4.6 version is not supported) and both Wordpress 1.5 and 2.0.

Some interesting features:

  • Posts, comments, categories, pages and users are migrated. wp2drupal respects unpublished and private settings so no non-public information will be revealed to unauthorized eyes after migration.
  • Module is highly configurable. You can, for example, specify node types of imported posts and pages, each imported string can be run through custom string handling function etc. To not harm usability, wp2module comes with well-thoughtout default values so you will typically only need to adjust a very few settings.
  • wp2drupal tries to make its best to handle strings and their character encoding right. For example, string are automatically „iconved“ if needed. You will appreciate this when your blog doesn't speak English.
  • wp2drupal module provides a very flexible URL redirection mechanism. It is not Apache-dependent and works very well on an arbitrary server platform (tested under IIS + isapi_rewrite). Redirection rules are stored in a database table so if you wish, you can build your own redirection script although the default one that simply works is provided out of the box.

Linking to old site - wrapping frames iframe

Hi All

I have decided to move to Drupal as our new intranet solution but I’m being held back by what should be a simple problem,
I have imported our old menu structure in to Drupal and it includes a lot of links to our old web server ie .

menu1 - menu2 - menu4
- menu5
- menu 3 - menu6
- menu7

all menu* have links like http://oldsite.com.au/menu*

Converting a Real Estate Site

Other than messing around with drupal a little over the years..This is my first attempt to convert a live site to drupal.

I developed the current site GulfCoastCondoCenter.com over a year ago. My client has now realized the power of the Internet and wants more. I have been pushing them to move to the next level with blogging, rss, etc.. and they have finally agreed.

I've installed Drupal 4.7 and the following modules:

blog
comment
content
contact
flexinode
gmap
help
image gallery
img_assist
nodereference
number
page
story
taxonomy
text
tinymce
upload
views
views_ui

The new installation is located at www.gulfcoastcondocenter.com/drupal/

I have done alot of searching around for real estate modules and read some posts about talks of development happening. In this clients case I wrote a custom cms to administer the content on the old site. I would like to get in touch with anyone to assist in developing a real estate or listings module for Drupal.

I have read few ways to build flexinodes, taxanomies, etc .. but my client is not web savvy and the vocabulary is way over their heads. I need to provide them a simple interface to manage the listings so I'm not involved in day to day maintenance.

The DB: (there is more to it)

listings - (title, address, city, etc..)

Forum Migration

I'm attempting to migrate a Groupee forum to a Drupal forum. I haven't been able to find any scripts that anyone else has written to do this, but I'm willing to write one myself (and share, obviously). My question is, what would be the best way to do this? I don't think manually moving records from one db to another would be too safe. Are there API calls for CreateUser, and CreateNewForumPost, and ReplyToForumPost, etc. ?

Thanks,

Ben Friedland
