I have a very large DB with content, like
AUTHOR, BOOK, TEXT
I'm look for a migration script or a module where I can import my DB to Drupal in a "directory" way (list authors => author's books => texts of the book => text).
I'm converting http://www.worldwar2database.com/ to Drupal. I'm using http://www.worldwar2databasetesting.com/ to set up the site. I have category module installed but I'm a little overhwhelmed as a three-week Drupal user. I know how to use URL aliases to have Drupal create the same web address for all the content.
We've got a successful community website with extensive user profiles (in MySQL), a message system and a basic calendar. We're looking to extend the site, which means a lot of PHP-coding.
I have Drupal 5.1 installed locally, and would like to recreate (part of) the site (especially the look and feel) to show my partners a) it can be done in Drupal), b) it's a lot easier to maintain and c) a lot of new possibilities/modules.
I've looked at a number of CMSes, but Drupal is simply the best, also for us.
I don't want to migrate to drupal, I just want to build a new site/blog with drupal, but I want all wordpress+wp-plugins futures ,... as a good editor 'related posts', 'subscribe to comment by email', 'top posts' 'share this' 'latest comments' and in particular a good control over images(possibility to pop-up images in a new page, variable thumbnails ).
So ... I want to make drupal to look and feel like wordpress for users.
This question seems like a typical request. Several searches did not lead me to a guide explaining the options, modules, and considerations when creating a photo album site with Drupal.
I have been reading about image modules under Drupal 5.1; image node, gallery2, and acidfree. These choices give me the basic concepts for photo album integration with Drupal, yet I am not familiar with their differences and dependency modules in relation to 5.1.
Ideally, my goal would be to create a photo blog with Drupal and it would similar features to Picasa web album.
