Help with Side bar

Hello,

I am currently working on converting our website to Drupal. Right now, we do not use a CMS and the site is starting to grow and there are now several people involved in its maintenance in addition to myself.

I created my theme for our site and started to work on the home page. I pretty much have the home page completed and a general template that I think will work for most of the site. The one thing I am unsure of is that our home page only shows the main links and each page after the home page has a navigation column on the left, related to the main link that was clicked on. I am trying to figure out how to:

1. get my template to show the left sidebar when it is needed and
2. actually build the menu that goes in each of the side bars for each of the main links or categories.

you can see our existing site here:
http://www.sono-tek.com

As you can see if needs to be updated, especially the back end. My plan is to get rid of the table layout and replace that with divs and upgrade it to XHTML 1.0 Strict. Also you may notice that some of the pages are duplicated across the categories, this is because some of our products are useful over several different industries. I guess you could call it a pseudo-dynamic site in that the locations and menus are all managed by php and mysql but the pages themselves are all static and written in XHTML.

[from Joomla] Joomla DV - Acces Denied for Drupal user

I have issue with Joomla during conversion to Drupal. It seems that Data Base is protected and requests user id. If it is appropiate it should gave pass. But it's not doing this.

I've given appropiate PRIVILEGES for Drupal user in CPanel, so this (I) user should be able to query Joomla's database. It doesn't happen.

Expression Engine forum to Durpal 5\phpbb forum

I'd like to move from a Expression Engine based community of 4000 users and 30,000 forum topics to Drupal with phpBB module.

I'm a bit confused about the conversion process of being able to get users into both the drupal and phpbb system and the EE forum topics into the phpBB forum.

I'm not sure if the process should begin by converting EE/forum to drupal only and then somehow converting drupal forums to phpBB forum or whether I should be trying to convert from EE forum to phpbb forum and then import the phpBB users into drupal.

Converting vbDrupal site to Drupal

Yes, vbDrupal is based off of Drupal so this isn't a how-to on converting your site to Drupal from Joomla or Wordpress.

But I thought I would post this in case it helps someone else. I started the process of converting my vbDrupal site to Drupal here. No slam against vbDrupal developers, but I actually found more information here on the Drupal site.

After some trial and error, here's what worked for me...

I began by setting up a new Drupal site on my local Mac using MAMP. I logged into my vbDrupal site's database manager and exported the Drupal node I wanted to move. In my case, it was the drupal_node_revisions table. I exported it as a CSV file. It took some time for me to figure out that this table contained all of the vbDrupal's site story content. I'm no expert so, like I said, some trial and error.
