i am a newbie using drupal to organize an event to promote foss among school and college students which requires participants i.e students to register in my website .i am searching for a module that allows me to create a simple form to store a set of information like participants name , college , email id , etc or is it possible to use my own code as a part of drupal module ? I was wondering if it's possible to have user's and their blogs private until they add someone to their "friends list" keeping the rest of the sites main pages public.

I'm customizing the user profile with the help of this code and putting in template.php. But when i login to site then nothing is displaythe blank screen come in front of me. But when i use the code after login and update the template.php user profile customize....then user profile works but other functionalities create problems...Plz help
