Searching User Profiles, Which Module Combination Provides the Best Solution?

I'm building a social networking site, I've spent a few hours looking at different search modules so far I haven't been able to figure out an effective solution to allow a user of my site to search for a specific node profile value, such as by "city", "sex", "zip code", in the way that you can on a site like myspace or facebook. Optimally I would like it to be possible for a site user to choose an option, such as "male" or "female" from a pull down menu, rather than having to enter it manually.

Using Node Id From Profile Node to Fill In Fields

Hi,

I am using profilenode module to create users on my website. I have basically 5 types of Users on my site, for each of which i have created a node. This I have used as all the user types need varied access control.

Now for the profile page I need to have some field that are specific to some kind of users. For this I was planning to make a user type field which will be used to make conditional fields which will be user specific.

The problem that I face is that I need to fill in this user type field from the the node type automatically.

Need help from Drupal veterans

Hi,

I am rebuilding my site from .NET to drupal, and I came up against an issue that I am not certain how to search for. So I thought I'd ask for help to see if someone can point my in the right direction.

The simple (hard to understand) description of what I am trying to achieve is to combine existing site content into topics (not tagging as the purpose behind it is different).

The verbose (easier to understand) description is let's say I have 10 posted stories on the site. If I determine that 4 of them are on exact same topic, I (only the admin) want to go through the backend, and create a topic by specifying the name of it, then select from a list of available stories on the site, and create it. Once someone on the site clicks on the topic, they will see the 4 related stories.

The reason why tags won't work is because they are not exact - let's say I have 10 articles labeled as cars, but only 4 of those stories are actually related to the same topic of 100mpg 0-60 in 3.2 seconds Hummer - chances of those 4 articles being labeled the same way are slim. Plus, I want to be able to tie in other links to the same topic - so let's say I found 3 other links on the Internet on the same wonder Hummer - I want to bring them into the same topic as well, and they will obviously not be tagged.

Meebo API Module

I'm reposting this in the Development forum since it's not a support request, and I think the Module forum is a little too saturated with support.

Meebo has recently released a new API, and we are interested in developing a Drupal module for it to enable our account managers to create customized chat rooms through the Drupal administration interface that integrate with our existing Drupal userbases.

With this API, you can do the following:
* Create, configure, and customize the appearance of rooms:
* Create a new room
* Configure an existing room
* List the rooms you own
* Check whether you own a particular room
* Check the configuration of a room
* Get the HTML code for embedding a particular room
* Delete a room
* Interact with rooms
* Find out how many participants are in a room

When integrating with users, the following fields can be defined:
* nickname - Display the username that you provide for the user during the chat room conversation and in the buddylist of the chatroom.
* iconurl (Optional) - Provide an absolute web link to the image that will be displayed next to the user's name in the buddylist of the chat room and in the expanded user profile window when the mouse is scrolled over the user's name in the buddylist.

Multiple forum integration under a single database/login?

I have a hobby site im currently putting together and there are several "categories" that address the subject matter. I want to organize the forums of this subject to be in a sense unique separate forums, yet still exists on the same "page" so to say.

The best way i can explain this is you have the MAIN forum page which user clicks, then a sub menu will appear that has a link to each category for the forum. User clicks on one of the category, and they are taken to a "forum page" for that particular category, and SOLELY that category.
