Groupware module(s)?

Hello

I'm building a website based on drupal.
I have several problems wich i will try to explain

Whenever an user creates an account he or she should select a group at registration.
Then an admin for the group selected should approve the user.

By group i mean roles.

Then for each of these groups i would like easily communication among them by emails and, file area and a contact management system where the users can add contacts.

Then I have one admin group from which i can contact easily all the groups.

How to create a tumblr of some sorts

I'd like to know if there is possibility to recreate the same bookmarklet that Tumblr has - where it automatically grabs content from e.g. Youtube and auto-embeds that video into the post. You have a bunch of tabs at the top, and then you can add descriptions etc.

The next step would be to have ratings for each video compared next to each other.

Search all profile fields rather than just user names? Drupal 6

Hi all,

I’m using Drupal 6.1, and the CCK modules aren't yet ported to Drupal 6.x.

Is there any way for users to search other users by more than just their user name? I created a customized profile with the user's location and area of expertise as two primary search items I'd like available for others to search (i.e. find all users on the site who are from Boston who are in the entertainment industry, or even just find the keyword "Boston" in any profile field). Is there any way to do that in Drupal 6.1 yet? I've read a lot about the content profile module which can be searched just like any other content nodes for keywords, but it doesn't look like I can make any customized fields on the content profile without using the CCK module (which unfortunately is not ported to 6.1 yet).

I want users to be able to search other users’ profiles quickly and efficiently. I found the table where the profiles are stored in my MySQL database. Is there a way to query the user database itself and just report the uid (user id) from my website (without using phpmyadmin or even being an administrator)? Or perhaps placing a search engine bar (Google, FreeFind, etc.) on my site?

Slashdot-style comments

All too often popular sites get flooded with useless comments which would be nice to hide by default from common visitors.
There are several comment moderation methods out there, but after careful examination it becomes apparent that Slashdot comment moderation system is superior to all: http://slashdot.org/moderation.shtml

I propose a module that implements Slashdot comment display/moderation system for Drupal.

Below is preliminary code for the module.
It does the following:
1. Transforms comment control toolbar (adds threshold field, removes date sorting, simplifies display modes)
2. Overrides default comment_render function from core because comment_render is neither a hook or a themeable function.
3. Adds moderation form to every comment. Moderation form is an exact copy of Slashdot moderation form.

What is lacking:
1. AJAX moderation of comments.
2. Displaying collapsed/expanded individual comments depending on the comment's rating and the user's threshold.

Todo:
1. Hook up with Karma.

Delf.

Drupal and KickApps

Hi, I'm new to the arena and trying to sift through all of the different options out there available for content management and social networking, in the end trying to come to a decision about what I will need to use to support my (future) site.

My question is: I've seen a few KickApps implementations I am impressed with, and I was wondering if anyone knew if an experienced drupal programmer would be able to duplicate that functionality using the existing drupal modules available (or let's say 80% of the functionality with the ability to custom build the remaining 20%?
