Sourceforge.net who hosts my OpenSource project and its website upgraded their MySQL engine to 4.1 and are forcing everyone to migrate their data. I did a little digging on drupal site and basically found out that normal mysqldump into a mysql client for a pure copy works fine. It took me just a few minutes to execute and change the config files and I'm running off of new database.
This is what I did:
1) Created the new sourceforge.net database accounts. This is done through SF.net admin pages for my project.
I’m shopping around for a hosting provider to run a Drupal installation for a middle school. Once set up, it will have 40-50 student users, with each having their own blog and possibly utilize a wiki and forum module as well- all within the same drupal site.
The question I have is what kind of plan might be appropriate? Most of the hosting companies point me toward a virtual server solution, which is more expensive.
They have version 4.6.2 of Drupal -- not the latest, but close. I was able to delete xmlrpc.php. In theory, I guess I could upload 4.6.3 to my directory, although so far the only thing I've added has been a module, which was trivial over ftp.
The sysadmin gerry has been very helpful when I've had questions.
Has anyone had experience with hosting Drupal on a Yahoo! Small Business hosting account? I have the web hosting "standard" level of service... which seems to support php-nuke, but makes no mention of Drupal. I've developed my site with the Yahoo! SiteBuilder software, but really need the features of Drupal. Any testimonials or thoughts would be appreciated.
